Atlanta's Vectralux say their name is "a made-up word that sounds strangely familiar." Formed in 2018 by frontman/guitarist Hannibal Heredia (Atticus Flinch, Stovall, Clashinista) and bassist/producer Andy Tegethoff (Solution Science Systems, Bruce Joyner and Atomic Clock), the band makes music that follows that lead.
Recruiting keyboardist Dan Barker (Warm in the Wake) and drummer Kelly Shane (Kenny Howes and the Yeah!) the following year, the group went on to record and release their debut LP Each Morning and the Morning Thereafter in 2021.
Praised by critics and fans alike for its hook-laden, upbeat indie-rock songs, the record exemplifies the Vectralux "familiarly unfamiliar" vibe. The band has continued to impress live, and expanded their alt-rock meets new wave sound on 2023's follow-up EP The Subtle Extravaganza, delving into more adventurous sonic and songwriting territory.
Comparisons of the band's sound range from Muse, Pixies, and The Killers to The Cars, ELO, Blur, and Guided By Voices. Power Pop and Indie Rock fans won't be disappointed. Vectralux has a sound you already love; you just might not know it yet.
